| SH | Downloading headings from CLA into bibliographic records |
| PB | Recently we have implemented UNIMARC/Authority structure into CLA database, the other local library of GBL NKC (the first local library called also NKC is the main electronic catalog of our library). We have imported about 30,000 of national authority records into CLA. We have started to transfer polished headings from ACC file AU into CLA and headings from CLA field AU into ACC file AU. We allowed to our librarians to XP CLA records during searching ACC file AU in NKC through a switch in Tabaleph, subtable 01. |
| Now we found out that this connection between NKC and CLA causes following problem: when a cataloger during cataloging downloads a heading from ACC file AU for which a record in CLA exists, the bibliographic record immediately overwrites that CLA record, i.e. the bibliographic record is duplicated to the same sysno where sits the authority record for the author whose name was downloaded. Immediately means that you can see new sysno on draft screen immediately after leaving a form before saving a record. We removed the switch in subtable 01 for the time being but we need this functionality since the National Library is responsible for creating and publishing national authority files. |
